Howdy, and welcome to Klepac Greenhouses.

I literally grew up in our family business: my mother was pregnant with me while she was working in the greenhouse. As soon as I was old enough, I began to work in the greenhouses and knew that my passion and calling was to one day have the opportunity to be steward of our family business. Shortly after I graduated from Texas A&M University, I returned to the family business. I have been President since 1996 and remain committed to faith, family, and quality.

That same passion is shared by our loyal team, many who are also multi-generational. That in turn helps us produce the consistent quality house plants that we have been known for since 1953.

History

In 1953, John and Mary Klepac sold their small meat market and store in Robstown, Texas, and bought a ranch in the Texas Hill Country town of Blanco. Here they intended on raising cattle and enjoying ‘retirement’. What they did not plan on was the ‘Drought of 52’. They had to sell their cattle and a large portion of the ranch.

Mary had a big garden, and in it was a bunch of Pom-Pom Mums. A man stumbled across their ranch one day and saw her lovely Mums. He told her he would buy all she could grow. Soon her garden was too small and so John had to build her a greenhouse. Then in 1955 the hobby gave way to Blanco Growers.

In 1969 John sold the business to his two sons Bob and Jim, and Klepac Brothers Greenhouses was formed. The business was sold again in 1995, this time to Jim. The name was then simplified to Klepac Greenhouses. Jim then unexpectedly and prematurely passed away in 1996 and left the business to his son Jimmy. Today, Klepac Greenhouses raises about 2 million potted plants annually and has almost 15 acres of greenhouses. Some of the original greenhouses that John built for Mary’s ‘hobby’ are still in use today!

After over 50 years and 3 generations of growing, the Klepac name still stands for quality in potted plants and customer service.
